Description
Golden Lady Tulip – Tulip Clusiana Var. Chrysantha Bulbs
The beautiful, slender species Tulip, Tulipa Clusiana Var. Chrysantha, has a bright yellow with a red blush to the outside of the petals. This Tulip, while not native to the UK, is great for naturalising in a lawn or a border being a reliable, perennial species here, it also takes well to larger containers.
Delicate, slender cup shaped yellow flowers which open right out to a star shaped flower in April. The Golden Lady Tulip can bear 1 to 3 flowers per slim stem and grow up to 30cm, it also has strap like blue-green leaves. Plant in a sunny, sheltered spot, they are easy to grow in a well-drained fertile soil in loam, sand or clay, and will multiply where happy. They enjoy positions in gravel and rock gardens as well as lawns, borders, and containers in sunny, sheltered positions.
The Golden Lady Tulip dislikes wet soils and may rot or be susceptible to bulb rot or Tulip Fire in these conditions.
