It’s World Bee Day 20 May 2026
Why Bees Matter More Than Ever
Celebrate World Bee Day to recognise the incredible role bees and other pollinators play in keeping our planet healthy. This year’s theme, “Bee Together for People and the Planet”, highlights the long-standing partnership between humans and bees, and the importance of protecting pollinators for future generations.
Around 75% of the world’s crops rely, at least in part, on pollination. From apples and strawberries to coffee and wildflowers, bees help support biodiversity, food production, and thriving ecosystems. Without them, many of the foods and plants we enjoy every day would struggle to survive.
Why we have a World Bee Day
Sadly, all around the world, bee populations continue to face serious threats from habitat loss, pesticides, climate change, and disease. Recent reports have also highlighted growing concerns about changing weather patterns affecting bee behaviour and survival.
