Swallow Nest Box Bowl

Woodstone is a concrete and wood fibre mix so it can be shaped to mimic swallow nests to encourage the birds to brood. It offers a long lasting secure nesting space for raising the next generation, giving them a great start in life. The nesting bowl is permanently mounted on wood from sustainable sources so it is easy to site and fix to an appropriate wall straight away so you can be ready to welcome the Swallows when they start to arrive from Africa in April.

Swallows build nests mainly from mud and saliva but there is a real shortage of the appropritate kinds of mud for them to use. The older stables, barns and other outbuildings are now lost or converted into human dwellings so their natural nesting spots for hundreds of years are disappearing fast.

Siting and Positioning:
Locate the nest in an outbuilding with reasonable open access such as a barn, garage, or general outbuilding where the Swallows can nest without disturbance and have free access at all times.

Cleaning:

If you want to clean them you will need to remove the wood and bowls from the wall. There is access behind the bowls to clean them out before replacing the bowls and wood fixture back secre into place.

Cleaning should be done between breeding seasons and please do not disturb the birds while the box is being used
