By placing a Mason Bee nesting box in a sunny spot you can help some of our most active pollinators. There are known to be 11 Mason Bee species in the UK and this nest box is suitable for Mason and Leaf Cutter bees. They build their nests often in existing holes or places where they can easily move material out, like in soft mortar, to create their nesting cells which they then plug. Bee tubes like those in the Mason Bee nest box encourage these helpful little bees to nest in them.

Solitary bees like Mason Bees, make nests alone however they do often like to nest near each other so it can appear as if they are working together. They are important pollinators visiting a wide variety of flowering plant species and can be found in gardens all over the UK.

The Mason Bee shelter comes complete with fixing screws and the nesting tubes are wrapped in shrink plastic which will need to be removed before the bees can make their nest. The warm cedar wood makes this bee shelter blend in with most garden styles and helps to protect the bee nest from the elements, the re-usable shelter can be refilled with nesting tubes or the whole box of tubes can be replaced giving it several years of life in your garden.

The box of 94 (approx) tubes is simple to remove and overwinter in a dry cool shed or garage to ensure the greatest possible hatching rate the following spring, you just need to remember to release them after they emerge.
