  • Musk mallow
  • Red campion
  • Yarrow
  • Plus a sprinkling of pollinator-friendly annuals Chamomile, Cornflower, Corn marigold, and Night-flowering catchfly ideal for those night flying moths.

Forget-me-not (Myosotis arvensis)

Short annual with blue-grey flowers occasionally interspersed with pink flowers.
Height: 10-40cm
Flowers: April to October
The Forget-me-not is not only a good, long flowering plant for adult butterflies and moths but it provides good caterpillar food for some species as well.

Musk Mallow (Malva moschata)

Description: A tall perennial with large rose pink petals.
Height: 40-70cm
Flowers: June to August
The old cottage garden standard with scented leaves and flowers that are attractive to butterflies and moths.

Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria)

A tall perennial with a spectacular spike of magenta flowers.
Height: up to 150cm
Flowers: June to August
A native to the UK this purple flowering plant is ideal for butterflies and moths including some magnificent hawk-moths as well as some bees and other long tongued insect species.

Red Campion (Silene dioica)

A perennial with rose pink petals.
Height: 20-60cm
Flowers: March to November
Red Campion is an ancient woodland indicator which means areas of woodland that have been around since 1600 in England and Wales, and 1750 in Scotland. It love woodland edge and hedgerow spaces and provides a valuable source of nectar for many pollinators.

Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)

A perennial aromatic herb with white flowers arranged in a many flowered flat umbel head.
Height: 8-60cm
Flowers: June to August
Flat platforms are preferred by some pollinators and Yarrow provides flat flowery landing pads in abundance.
